Welcome to Owlpen Caravans

About Owlpen
Set amongst the trees on the fringe of the New Forest, Owlpen is a small private park consisting of two mobile homes, a large chalet unit and the owner’s cottage in a secluded woodland setting, each with its own private fenced garden with patio furniture. Owlpen is perfect for the more mature person who has time on their hands to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area, where well behaved, quiet dogs are welcomed. Family run, Owlpen is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area - appealing 365 days a year from the forest’s autumnal gold's to blue flagged sandy beaches. The accommodation provides you with everything you need in a holiday home - lounge with colour television, your own small fenced garden, full kitchen and bathroom facilities and comfortable bedrooms.
Dog owners will appreciate the adjacent gravel lane for early morning and late evening dog walks, and there is secure on site parking in the yard. We also live in the cottage which is on site, so we are at hand if needed. We try to have thought of everything with an emphasis on cleanliness and comfort. As an assurance, we are qualified members of the British Holidays and Home Parks Association.
The Local Area
Owlpen is situated in Bransgore, a rural village surrounded by fields and forest. Just a few minutes drive from the site will bring you to the New Forest land. Visitors to the area find themselves spoilt for choice. We are 3 ½ miles from Burley, a well know beauty spot in the New Forest, 4 miles from Highcliffe, our nearest beach, 10 miles from Bournemouth, 1/4 a mile from the village shops and within walking distance of the villages three pubs whose home cooked food we recommend. Whatever your preference, be it peace and solitude, visiting local places of beauty or historical interest including the many National Trust Houses within the area, walking in the New Forest, a round of golf, bird watching, the South’s sandy beaches, sailing, fishing or other watersports, the shops, symphony orchestras or summer shows of Bournemouth, you will find something to suit all tastes.
The New Forest
‘Nova Foresta’ was set aside more than nine centuries ago as a hunting reserve by William the Conqueror. Today, it is still subject to the special laws which he created to protect his sport of the forest’s red deer. Whilst many other places over the centuries have changed almost beyond recognition, the New Forest's ancient woodlands and wilderness heaths remain largely intact, earning the area national and international status. Incidentally it was William’s son, William Rufus who was killed in a hunting accident from where the famous memorial ‘Rufus Stone’ originates and the village of Burley, just over three miles away which was supposedly the centre of witch-craft for the South East. The New Forest covers an area of some 38,000 hectares, or 1,330 square miles and for over nine centuries has been the favourite haunt of English Kings, famous for its wandering ponies. The forest reaches from the border of Wiltshire to the South Coast and while it is called the ‘New Forest’ it is fact one of the oldest in Britain.
